Letter from a Foster Dog

Dear Auntie Linda,

You should see all the neat stuff over here. Lots of pillows and chewies and toys and rooms and grass and bushes. And there is even my very own patio which is now my very favorite place to pee!

My new friends, Ben, Shyanne, Spree and Sam call the lady here "Mom" but I'm not going to call her by her name until she calls me by mine. Didn't you tell her my name is Flashy, not "cutie", or "sweetie" or "baby" or "sweet pea"? Honestly! I knocked over the water dish this afternoon and she called me "silly boy" - but if she doesn't call me Flashy I'm not going to knock it over for her again. Just because I just came out of the kennel doesn't mean I don't know my own name, ya know? And the man keeps rubbing my back and calling me "big fella." Honestly, Auntie Linda, where do you find these people!!?

Everyone here goes through this hole in the wall to get outside - but when I get up to it there is a plastic coating on it. So I wait and the lady lifts it up for me - then she calls me a "ding dong." I asked Sam and he said that was a good name but it worries me that he laughed when he was walking away and then did this snorty thing. I don't know if he was lying to me or just has really bad manners and social skills.

I haven't peed or pooped in the house (yet!!) but I also haven't laid down for more than 3 minutes at a time. There is just so much to see! In the bathroom there are 2 or 3 dogs that look exactly like me but whenever I get close to them they bob me on the nose. I tried walking up to them really slow but they bob me again. When I peek at them around the corner they disappear!

I have met Katherine and Annie - the cat things. I whined at Katherine but she just walked right past my nose and didn't even look. They say she's old but I think she must be deaf and blind cause I was right there. Annie cat hissed at me but then we sniffed noses and I just went and laid down. I must have done good cause the "Mom" gave me a piece of cheese.

Well, gotta go - I really think I need to take a little nap so I will be well rested later. I'll keep in touch and don't worry - you KNOW I'll be the best ever!!!

Love, Flashy
