Shelley and Dave adopted Bruser (race name - Jabber Jaws), a light brindle male, almost one year ago.

Dear Kiersten & Cheryl,

Just wanted to drop a line to update you. The Greyhound picnic for the Prescott area was just held, Saturday, the 8th of April and everyone had a good time. We had a good turnout with several Greyhound parents and their "kids" in attendance. As we sat on the outside deck among the pines, our dogs renewed acquaintances and even made some new friends.

Bruser chased around with his buddy, Bubba and also took several tours of the yard with Jet. He was happy to see Brooke as well. I was amazed to see him grubbing food from anyone who would oblige all day long. He would take off and make his rounds then come back and make sure that Dave and I were still in the same spot where he left us.. As the day warmed up he flopped in a flower bed and covered his stomach and legs with soft muddy dirt.

I observed one dog drinking from the bird fountain and others cooling their feet in the drinking dish. As soon as someone filled the dish with water one of the dogs would come up and empty the whole thing with his big feet. Haley was seen licking the shrimp dip appetizer that Dave made and then promptly stole some processed cheese slices off the same table.

The people ate well and so did the dogs, as the kids had a great time hand feeding them, and the adults gave them plenty of biscuits. Harold did the grilling and did a great job. Barbara helped Billy put the whole thing together and they out did themselves. I watched Bubba as he tried out various dog beds around the deck. He was so fun to observe as he grabbed a rawhide roll and ran with it, hoping Barbara wouldn’t see. Then as the heat of the day picked up, he headed for the soft cool dirt and lay in it. When I was leaving he was totally crashed in the dirt and I can’t wait to see the pictures of that.

Bruser let us know that he was ready to go home. When I snapped his leash back on him he used his head to butt me out the gate as we left. As we arrived home, he went immediately in the house and laid under the table and fell soundly asleep. Not a peep out of him until the next morning. We had a great time at the picnic and are looking forward to this year’s activities to promote more adoptions.

Until next time!

Love,
Dave, Shelley and Bruser

Our friends in Northern Arizona stay very busy promoting AAGI. We thank them for the time and effort they put forth on behalf of our program.
